5 Star gives a fitting reply to controversies surrounding third umpire

India loves cricket. It is more than a sport, it's a religion here. But if there’s one thing the country loves more than cricket, it’s the controversies that surround it. So recently when a few questionable calls from third umpires became controversial, fans quickly piled on. But in an unusual move, Cadbury 5 Star, came to the defence of third umpires.

According to 5 Star, third umpires manage to hold a lot of power in cricket and make historic decisions, even though they spend the entire match inside a room, doing almost nothing. While several brands have gotten cricketers to endorse their products during T20 season, Cadbury 5 Star declared its choice for a brand ambassador earlier this month, through an ad campaign that ran during matches. So, amidst the recent controversies, the brand decided to double down on their stance by declaring third umpire CK Nandan as the living embodiment of their ‘Do Nothing’ philosophy and paying a grand tribute opposite the cricket stadium at Marine Drive in Mumbai, in the form of a holographic statue.

Check out the brand’s holographic ode to these third umpires here.

Congratulations!
