Jonny Bairstow is given the Player of the Match award for his 66 off 29 balls. Says that it was one of those days when it came off. Regarding taking on Josh Hazlewood, Jonny replies that there are many quality bowlers in the Indian T20 League, and he just tried to get Josh off his length and it paid off. On him batting at different positions for his national team and in this League, Bairstow says that it's completely different to represent England and to play for Punjab but the stats suggest that he enjoys opening the batting.

Mayank Agarwal, the captain of Punjab, says that they were brilliant with the bat and calls the batting efforts of Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone amazing. Adds that they have not changed their style a lot and it's important to assess the conditions and adapt accordingly. Tells that they cannot be too defensive with the ball as the boundaries are not long enough to contain the batters and you need to be aggressive with the ball. Feels that two points are more crucial for the team and as long as the job is getting done, he is fine batting in the middle order. Regarding Arshdeep Singh, Mayank calls him a very energetic guy who is very confident and enjoys his cricket.

This victory for Punjab was set up by the power duo from England - Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone. The former put on a show in the Powerplay and the latter navigated through the middle overs and provided Punjab with a strong finish. The overall bowling was decent and Kagiso Rabada stood out with a 3-fer. Rishi Dhawan and Rahul Chahar also did an impressive job.

Punjab move up to 6th spot with 54-run win over Bangalore

23:51 (IST) May 13

It's one of those days. A couple of those come off and it's your day. Many quality bowlers in the IPL and sometimes you've got to try and get them off their lengths (taking on Josh). It's a completely different commodity, playing with England and playing here. Stats would suggest I quite enjoy opening the batting. The bats are very good, I must admit.

Player of the Match | Jonny Bairstow

23:50 (IST) May 13

We were brilliant with the bat. Wicket was holding up a bit. The way Jonny and Livi batted, was amazing. We haven't changed a lot to be honest, just about understanding few situations, understanding the wicket. Have to be adaptable and flexible which we have been, which is nice. Can't be too defensive with the ball. If batsman get going, it doesn't matter, the boundaries don't matter these days. Two points the most crucial thing for us. As long as the job gets done, I'm fine batting at five. Very very energetic person, very confident guy (Arshdeep). Enjoys his cricket. Must say he's the leader in the team. He rallies around everyone, takes up the responsibility, even goes up and speaks to the bowlers sometimes.

I have got a tight calf, so just as a precaution I went off and iced it. I didn't want to make it any worse. That's how we want to play our cricket, Jonny was outstanding and set the tone, from then on we were ahead of the game. It was a chance for myself to get in and assess the conditions a little bit longer than usual. It was nice to knock it around for a little bit before setting a platform to get at the end. Jonny set it up for the rest of the batters and the way we bowled was exceptional on a very good pitch. I still thought we were 10-15 short with the size of the boundary and how good the pitch was, all credit goes to our bowlers. If we get our chance to put the opposition under pressure then make sure we do that, Jonny did that against one of their best bowlers in the tournament. Once I leave here I won't be praising him (Bairstow), trust me (On their Lancashire-Yorkshire rivalry). It has been a different role, I have been up and down the order, just trying to make a contribution in every game and the proudest thing for me is being able to contribute in all areas. I am seeing the ball well at the moment and it is nice to put in performances to win games for your team. Wherever I play, batting in different positions, I have the skill set to bat anywhere and that is something that sets me up really well.

Liam Livingstone

23:45 (IST) May 13

Liam Livingstone (70 off 42 balls) comes up for a chat! The Englishman smiles and says that he has a tight calf and the taping was just a precaution. Mentions that this is how they want to play their cricket. Credits Jonny Bairstow for setting the tone and informs that he was just assessing the condition and knocking it around the corner before going for the big hits. Feels that they were 10-15 runs short and gives all the credit to their bowlers. States that they put the opposition under pressure from the beginning. Regarding his personal form, Liam replies that it's been a different role and he has tried to contribute in every way possible. Further says that he is seeing the ball well and it's nice to score a few runs. Also adds that he prides himself on the ability to bat at different positions and he is ready to bat wherever his captain and the coach want him to.

23:39 (IST) May 13

Faf du Plessis, the skipper of Bangalore, says that it was a good score and praises the batting of Jonny Bairstow who put pressure on the Bangalore bowlers. Feels that 200 was a par score on this pitch. Mentions that they lost wickets in a cluster and that didn't help them. On Virat Kohli finding different ways to get out, du Plessis replies that Virat is seeing the lighter side of his dismissals and Faf feels that it's all about how you stay positive and motivated. He is pleased with the way Virat Kohli is handling everything and hopes that a big score is around the corner. Shares that they have a little bit of break and they will try to forget this loss and put all their energy into the next game which will be a must-win for them. Adds that one more net session won't make you a great player and it's all about a strong mindset. Feels they are a very good team but this evening they didn't do the execution part right.

23:34 (IST) May 13

It was a good score, obviously Jonny the way he started put our bowlers under really pressure. I thought we pulled it back a bit. 200 was about par on that wicket, was a brilliant wicket. When you're chasing scores like that, you can't afford to lose wickets in clusters and unfortunately, that's what happened to us. He (Kohli) is seeing the lighter side of it, every single way that you can possibly get out, is happening to him. That's how the game works. All you can do is to keep trying hard, work hard and stay positive. He played some good shots tonight, obviously would want him to carry on. Bad patches happen to all of us, he's taken it in the right note. Not a great outing for us tonight. Will take a day off and then see how we can switch on for a game that's a must-win one for us. One more net session isn't going to make you a better player, it's about making yourselves stronger in the mind. If we play to our potential, we are a very strong side. Unfortunately, we didn't do that tonight.

Arshdeep Singh to Mohammed Siraj, A length ball, on middle. Siraj looks to pull but bottom-edges it to long on for a single. Punjab win by 54 runs!

23:28 (IST) May 13

It was a daunting task for Bangalore in the chase, and the start from them was bright and breezy. Virat Kohli looked in fine form, but his stay was too short. Three wickets fell in quick succession for Bangalore, and soon all the momentum got sucked away from their corner. Maxwell and Patidar threatened for a short while, but they both departed in the space of three balls and things unravelled quickly after that. A big defeat at this stage would have an adverse effect on Bangalore's NRR.
