NEW DELHI: Celebrated former India wicket-keeper batsman Farokh Engineer
is confident that the Indian captain Virat Kohli
will take Men in Blue to a title win in the ICC World Twenty20, which began on Sunday.
The mega event got underway on October 17 and India will kick off their campaign on October 24 against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket
Stadium in the Super 12s stage.
"World T20 will be the best opportunity for Virat Kohli to take India to a (title) win. He is a fantastic leader who leads by example. India are dominant in big tournaments and this will be a big opportunity for the team. Virat will surely take India to the World Cup T20 win this time. India have class players in T20Is. KL Rahul

Kohli, who hasn't won a senior ICC trophy yet in his captaincy tenure, has already announced that he will be giving up T20I captaincy after the conclusion of the 2021 T20 World Cup. And the Indian run-machine would love to sign off the mega event on a high by winning the coveted trophy.
Hailing Kohli, Engineer termed the Indian skipper as one of the best captains India has produced.
"Virat is fantastic. He is one of the best captains India has produced. His energy, plans, dominations, and execution cannot be matched. He fuels energy in the team. He is always hungry for runs and wins. That's his best quality. That’s what is taking the Indian team forward. Look at the fitness level of the team. It is just amazing," Engineer, who played 46 Tests and 5 ODIs for India between 1961 and 1975, further said.
Kohli incidentally is also the highest run-getter overall in the shortest format of the game. He has 3159 runs in 90 matches at an average of 52.65, including 28 half-centuries and is ahead of Martin Guptill of New Zealand, who has 2939 runs. Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya (AFP Photo)
"Virat knows how to use his players in any situation. And he has got match-winners in the team. Bumrah and Pandya are two of the biggest match-winners in Virat's team. He is making his own team for the T20 World Cup," the former wicket keeper said.
Since August 2019, India have played 9 T20I series and won 7 of those (lost one and one ended in a draw).
"Whenever India play against any team and in any format, they are favourites. They will enter the World T20 as top favourites. They are one of the best teams in the world. The way they are playing, they can definitely go on and win the T20 World Cup. I am sure Virat will lead India to the T20 World Cup win. India will be a dominant side in the tournament," Engineer said.
India had won the World T20 title in 2007 in South Africa when they defeated Pakistan in the summit clash.
