India reports 17,073 new Covid-19 cases, 21 deaths in last 24 hours

NEW DELHI: India reported 17,073 new Covid-19 cases and 21 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry data updated on Monday morning.

A massive jump of 5,334 infections in the tally of new cases in a day has pushed the total tally to 4,34,07,046 while the total fatalities reached 5,25,020, said the ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW).

India's active caseload now stands at 94,420 with a rise of 1,844 cases in the tally in a day. The active caseload now is 0.21% of the total cases.

According to a MoHFW release, India’s daily positivity rate stands at 5.62 % while weekly positivity rate is at 3.39 %.
As many as 15,208 people recovered in the last 24 hours while the current recovery rate is 98.58%.
Meanwhile, 2,49,646 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of vaccinations to 1,97,11,91,329. Of these, 0ver 3.63 crore first dose 0f vaccines have been administered to the 12-14 years age group so far.
According to the MoHFW, more than 193.53 crore vaccine doses have been provided to states/Union territories, out of which nearly 12 crore balance doses are still available with them.
Also, a total of 3,03,604 tests were done during the previous day, taking the total to 86.10 crore so far.
