India reports 12,847 new Covid-19 cases, 14 deaths in last 24 hours

NEW DELHI: India on Friday reported more than 12,000 Covid-19 cases for the second day in a row. With 12,847 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the country's total tally of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic reached 4,32,57,730.

Meanwhile, India's active cases rose to 63,063 in the last 24 hours, an increase from 58,215 recorded the previous day, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday morning.
The active cases now stand at 0.15 per cent of the total infections.

With the country reporting 14 deaths related to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, India's death toll climbed to 5,24,817 since the start of the pandemic, according to the ministry.

The government further reported that 7,985 coronavirus patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The cumulative tally of recovered patients is now at 4,26,82,697. India’s recovery rate saw a slight dip at 98.64%.
India's daily positivity rate has been recorded at 2.47 per cent while the weekly positivity rate stands at 2.41 per cent.
The last 24 hours saw a total of 5,19,903 Covid-19 tests being conducted across the country. India has so far conducted 85.69 crore cumulative tests since the start of the pandemic in 2020.
The vaccination coverage in India has so far been administered to 195.8 crore as per provisional reports updated till Wednesday morning.
India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the one-crore mark in December, 2020. The country crossed the grim milestone of two crore in May, last year and three crore in June, 2021.
