NEW DELHI: India recorded 3,451 new Covid-19 cases and 40 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to government data released on Sunday.
The cases have slightly decreased from the previous day when the number of new infections was 3,805. However, the last 24 hours saw an almost two-fold rise in the number of deaths to 40 from 22 the previous day.
As of Sunday, India’s active caseload stood at 20,635 — 0.05 percent of the total number of infections — marking an increase of 332 cases in the last 24 hours. Also, 3,079 people recovered in the same time period, taking the cumulative tally to 4,25,57,495.
Meanwhile, India's daily positivity rate stood at 0.96 percent and weekly positivity rate at 0.83 percent.
As on May 8, 2022, a total of 1,90,20,07,487 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19, said the ministry of health and family
welfare. Over 3.04 crore adolescents have been administered with a first dose of Covid-19 jab since the beginning of vaccination drive for this age bracket.
Meanwhile, 3,60,613 tests were done during the previous day, increasing the overall to 84.06 crore. (With inputs from agencies)
