The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on Wednesday took out a ‘Mashal Aakrosh Julus' demanding justice for the farmers who lost their lives during the recent Lakhimpur Kheri violence in Uttar Pradesh, a party statement said. The march, led by IYC national president Srinivas BV, also demanded dismissal of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, whose convoy allegedly ran over the farmers on October 3. (PTI)
Lakhimpur violence case: Ashish Mishra denied bail, 2 more arrested
Two more persons were on Wednesday arrested in connection with the Lakhimpur violence, while a court here denied bail to the main accused, Ashish Mishra, son of Union minister Ajay Mishra. Ankit Das and Latif alias Kale, who appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT), were taken in custody after questioning and produced in court which sent them in judicial remand for 14 days, official sources said.

Ankit Das, said to be a close friend of Tikonia violence accused Ashish Mishra, turned up before the special investigation team (SIT) at the crime branch office in Lakhimpur on Wednesday, police said. The video of his speech has been played on different public platforms and is available in the public domain. How can justice be done when the original provocation came from Union MoS home affairs himself?
This deliberate act of murder, in broad daylight, followed by the audacious reactions of the state and central governments, has completely eroded people’s faith in those tasked with bringing these perpetrators to justice, stated the letter written to the President by Congress delegation.
President has given us the assurance that he will discuss the matter with the government today itself.
